Free Minecraft Server: Get Yours Now

Getting ready to host your own minecraft server? Well you have come to the right place. Here at, we not only know about minecraft servers we run our very own. Getting a free server is fun if you don’t mind some of the compromises. Nothing in life is truly free. These companies are are going to give you a limited experience in hopes that you will upgrade, or they will riddle your experience with advertisements and minimize the fun. And when you finally upgrade, you will find that the prices are not as good as some of their competitors. If you are going to play once in a while with friends or family, go for it. If you take Minecraft a little more seriously and you want Mods Packs and real power without the hassle, it is worth the cost of a single coffee at Starbucks to have a kick-ass server.

Minecraft Server Hosting

I’ll get off my soapbox now and let you know my experience with free minecraft hosting. is a straight forward host who really provides what they say they do. I was able to go from their homepage to playing minecraft in only a couple minutes. They are very honest about their pricing and tell you what you get right up front. Minecraft Host Pricing

I quickly signed up, even able to use my Facebook login to save even more time and not have to worry about another password. The back end is laid out well with a large assortment of options at your fingertips. I played solo for about 20 minutes and as you can see from the screen grab my memory usage was still pretty high. When I was mining a bit, the CPU was redlining and some of the blocks started to glitch causing me to have to mine them again. When sprinting and rendering the new chunks in the horizon also kept things maxed, but personally I didn’t have any problems. Again this was only me. I was consistently using 3/4s of the available resources, add if one more user joined, the server would begin go slow down. minecraft host backend

The benefit for is that you can get on in the least amount of clicks, the back end is organized well and the performance was as expected with 512mb server. The big con is performance with multiple players. I didn’t get to test it, but considering the usage of the resources with only me playing, I think it is fair. Another issue is that they will shut down the server if it is not in use. You will have to get access to the dashboard and restart the server when you want to play, or if a friend wants to get online. A bit of a hassle, but you are getting to play for free, so beggars can’t be choosers.

Serveromat based out of Czech Republic and Slovakia, offers the same fast startup that does. It was very easy to sign up and take their hosting for a spin. The only cons for me was that they defaulted you to a paid account and their payment methods looked a bit shady. I have nothing against Paypal, but any self respecting business should be able to take a credit card onsite. Using a SMS payment method is a normal way of doing business in that part of the world, but in the US it definitely not the norm.

The dashboard is very easy to navigate and has all of the options you would be looking for at this level of hosting. Not sure if they were not as busy, if they are better optimized, but for the server with nearly identical credentials to the account, it performed much better than The CPU and Memory never broke a sweat, so I do believe with Serveromat you could host with a couple friends without too much of a worry. The only issue you have to worry about is if you will get your server back after you run out of time.

As you can see in the picture above, once your 7 days are done, you have to contact them to renew the server. I they do not have the capacity for an additional free server, you go to the back of the line. I’m not sure about you, but when I actually get some time I get to play, I don’t want to have to wait in line.

I wanted to test out Aternos, but couldn’t even get through the login screen. All I saw where huge ads on the left and right of my screen. After I couldn’t get in, I left. If you have experience with them, please leave some notes in the comments. I may try again soon.

They offer a free 512mb server free for life. They have a clean dashboard and it takes no time at all to sign up. They will give you a chance to upgrade, just in case you were not sure about that free option. They say that their server performance is fine for you and couple friends, but I wouldn’t know. They are offering their service for free which is great, but make sure you know what you are getting into. Their pricing is fair, but $10 (after a year commitment) for 2gb is a little high. The company I use, I have 2gb and it is only costing me $7.99 per month and they don’t use tricks to get new business. I’ll let you know who they are at the end of the post. Minecraft Hosting Plan Prices

After you select your location, at the time of this writing, there was only one choice Phoenix, Arizona, USA, you have to confirm your package. Then an amazing screen pops up and shows you that there is no way you are getting a free server anytime soon. In 63 hours my server is going to be ready. Again, they are staying true to their word, I believe them, but just know that there will be compromises. But you have to check in every two days so they are not wasting their time. Think I would head back to Serveromat, or better yet, just a couple bucks and get a server that is always on and performs the way I want it too. Wait Time Minecraft Hosting

Hopefully you have found what you need. If you decided you do not want to deal with the headache and would like to have your server up 24/7 for you and your friends to play on, well I would recommend you use who I have been using for quite some time.

Apex Hosting

Based in Maryland, USA, they are a very reputable host with super fast servers, great prices and top quality customer support. They are also the official partner of Technic. When you choose your server, you have so many options for Technics launcher and mod packs. It opens a whole new way to play Minecraft.

You can get a rock solid 1.5gb for only $5.99 per month or go with the 2gb for only $7.99 which wonders for me. Anyway, good luck with your crafting and if you have any other free recommendations I should check out, please let me know in the comments.
